CNN's John Roberts interviews Scientology Spokesman Tommy Davis live on CNN on May 7 2008. In the interview, Davis lies about Scientology's greatest noisemaking opponent 'Anonymous', claims that "Disconnection" (the practice of forcing new members to sever all existing ties) is not an official Cult policy, and pretends that he's never heard of the OT-III doctrine of Thetans (or parasitic alien ghosts, i.e meet Xenu).

Six years ago, when I was a reporter at New Times LA, I’d written several stories about Scientology (Los Angeles is one of its headquarters), and I was about to uncork the longest one yet—a 7,000 word piece about an embarrassing, $8 million defeat Scientology had just suffered, when the weekly paper suddenly folded.

Most of what we know about Scientology's "supreme ruler" we learned from South Park: 75 million years ago, the evil alien brought humans to earth in a spaceship and killed them; the psychic trauma of the event has affected us ever since. The Church of Scientology, embarrassed by the story, has always tried to hide its existence.

According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a rights group called the American Rights Counsel LLC has attempted to have at least 4,000 anti-Scientology videos removed from the video sharing website YouTube. Upon further investigation, Wikinews found that most videos and clips were added to YouTube by the copyright holders of the material; as DMCA requests are for the purposes of requesting removal where service providers host material that infringe on the copyright of the complainant, the merit of these requests remain questionable. It was also discovered that the alleged rights group does not exist as a physical entity. In an in-depth report, Wikinews investigated the incident and obtained exclusive information and comments from individuals, including XenuTV producer, Mark Bunker.

The Church of Scientology still makes lots of headlines:
1) Their own — as the cult is spamming so-called ‘Press Release’ services and is posting praises for anything Scientology on websites that allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to post just about anything.
2) Actual news — usually highlighting the countless negative aspects of Scientology.
Often, the cult responds to these type of reports — and in doing so tends to illustrate how far removed from reality its followers really are. For instance, responding to any kind of criticism by claiming that the Church of Scientology is a victim of religious hatred is idiotic.
