The videos presented here are recordings related to the protests in Tibet in March 2008. The collection covers broadcasts from news stations around the world on the protests as well as material on solidarity demonstrations with the people of Tibet around the globe. The Chinese government is blacking out all youtube videos completely as well as immediately shutting down any broadcast mentioning the situation in Tibet, as shown in one of the broadcasts presented here.

Der YouTube-Nutzer NZKOF zum Beispiel hat einen Propagandafilm zusammengestellt: Unterlegt mit monumentaler Orchestermusik zeigt sein Video Fotos aus Tibets Geschichte, dazwischen Texttafeln mit angeblichen Fakten über das Verhältnis zu China.

There is lots of media coverage on the protests in Tibet. Something that lies under the surface, and rarely gets a blip in the press, are the various targeted cyber attacks that have been taking place against these various communities recently.

These attacks are not limited to various Tibetan NGOs and support groups. They have been reported dating back to 2002, and even somewhat before that, and have affected several other communities, including Falun Gong and the Uyghurs.

If video is going to be streamed in China, the state wants to know about it. China requires a streaming company to obtain a state license and then avoid airing clips that might inspire fear, contain pornography, or endanger national security. That's a huge burden for sites that feature user-generated content, especially when "endangering national security" includes showing video clips of Chinese unrest. This week, China mounted a crackdown on 62 separate web sites that in violated a new law against showing online audio and video without permits.

The XXIXth Olympic Summer Games and the Beijing Paralympic Summer Games will take place from August 8-24, 2008, and September 6-17, 2008, respectively. There are seven major venue sites, six outside of Beijing, including Hong Kong, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Tianjin. Equestrian events will be held in Hong Kong and sailing events in Qingdao. Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Tianjin will host the soccer preliminaries.

Recent refugees who escaped Chinese torture in Tibet and arrived in Dharamsala, India to an uncertain future. In light of the recent events in Tibet I've decided to post the entire documentary I shot in India about Tibetan refugees who had just escaped from Chinese torture in Tibet. It's available at Netflix, and other online areas, but it's more important that the words of these eyewitnesses is put into the public airspace. Tibetans have been tortured, beaten and jailed since the Chinese invaded their country, I have footage of a doctor who left because he could no longer sterilize Tibetan woman in good conscience. Most of these interviews are children or monks - their stories are heartbreaking.

I couldn't put the entire hour long movie at one time, but it's in 5 edited clips of ten minutes each on youtube, and the other clips will soon appear. Long live the great Tibetan culture and people, and please pray for Tibet.

Nach Kritik aus China haben mehrere deutsche Medien Fehler bei der Berichterstattung über die Unruhen in Tibet eingeräumt. Die privaten Fernsehsender n-tv und RTL bedauerten am Montag, Bilder in einen falschen Zusammenhang gestellt zu haben. Die staatliche chinesische Nachrichtenagentur Xinhua (Neues China) hatte am Sonntag mehreren westlichen Fernsehsendern, Zeitungen und deren Online-Angeboten vorgeworfen, Tatsachen verfälscht zu haben. So seien Videosequenzen Tibet zugeordnet worden, die tatsächlich gewaltsame Auseinandersetzungen im benachbarten Nepal gezeigt hätten.

Neues Blutvergießen im Tibet-Konflikt: Bei einer Demonstration in der chinesischen Provinz Sichuan sind mehrere Menschen getötet worden. Die Behörden geben steinewerfenden Protestlern die Schuld - die Exil-Tibeter behaupten, die Polizisten hätten in die Menge gefeuert.
